Godshill Model Village

Godshill Model Village nestles in the grounds of an Old Vicarage. Set in nearly two acres of gorgeous landscaped gardens where it has a real retro feel – a quintessentially English visitor attraction. You will find scale models of Shanklin and Godshill villages as they were in the 1920’s, with cottages, pubs and churches that are reproduced versions of the real buildings in 1/10th scale. The garden railway is a must see – a snapshot of the Island Line of yesteryear!  There are hundreds of manicured trees and shrubs, some are over forty years old yet still remain in perfect harmony with the scaled models, there is inspiration here for the novice gardener and envy for the expert. Recently, a complete dinosaur skeleton was unearthed in the Model Village.  The “Minisaurus” nick named locally as “Di the Dinosaur” was discovered in early 2014 by a visiting team of archaeologists. The team are thrilled to have found such a fantastic example of this unique dinosaur and they are keen to welcome visitors to their excavation site.
